Who we are
We spent most of our careers in cybersecurity and data science at Fortune 100 companies in pharma, finance, and telecom. That kind of work leaves you with habits you can’t put down. Know the facts before you open your mouth. Sweat the details, because the details are where things break. And nothing ships on a hunch: if the data doesn’t justify it, it doesn’t make it, no matter how much you liked the idea.
Meanwhile, at home, our kitchen counter held ten or fifteen supplements a day, and we couldn’t have told you which of them were doing anything. We gave one expensive green powder six faithful months, a lot of countertop dust, and a lot of blender cleanup, then stopped and felt exactly the same. We laughed about it first. Then it started to bother us. We’d built careers on refusing to take things on faith, and here we were doing it every morning with a glass of swamp water.
So we started Modest, mostly for ourselves. One product for one problem. A handful of ingredients found in nature, whether that’s a plant, a mineral, or something your body already makes, each with a real human trial behind it, at the dose that trial used, printed on the label at the amount that’s in the bottle. If we can’t build something that clears that bar, we don’t ship it.
We think the future of feeling well looks less like an aisle of promises and more like a return to fundamentals: ingredients found in nature, studied properly, disclosed completely. You should know what you’re putting in your body. You should be able to tell whether it’s doing anything. That’s the whole idea, and we think it’s enough.
